Mary Benson, 2010 Eder Award Recipient

The English Department is honored to announce KSC senior Mary Benson, from Chester, NH, as the recipient of the 2010 Eder Creative Writing Scholarship Endowment.

Mary is passionate about writing. At Keene State, she has excelled in writing fiction, critical essays and poetry. When she is not writing, or working, she pursues other interests, including “cats, records, walking, and autumn.”

Former Dean of Program Development & Graduate Studies at Keene State from 1978-82, Doris L. Eder, and her husband Donald Gray Eder, established the scholarship to provide financial assistance and recognition to English majors/writing minors who have organized their undergraduate studies around a passion for writing.

For more information on the Eder Creative Writing Scholarship, see “The Heart of the Matter” in the “Class Notes” section of the Winter 2007 edition of Keene State Today. You can also read three of Mary’s poems in Newsline.

Congratulations, Mary!
