Class of ’86 Turns 25!

frisbee-galClass of ’86ers—this Reunion is a big one (your 25th), and there are big plans to celebrate. Mark your calendar now to get back to campus the first weekend in June (3–5) to recapture the fun you had back in the day. And this time, you won’t have to give a thought to that exam you haven’t studied for, or that paper you still have to write.

Be here for the welcome back dinner and social on Friday night. On Saturday, put on your flip flops and bring the whole family to Oya Hill from 2–4 p.m. for food and entertainment. But save room for more fun, because your class is holding a social at 4:30 in the Alumni Center.

If you haven’t walked down Appian Way in a few years, you’ll be impressed with all the progress. “You might be pleasantly surprised,” one of your classmates, Sue Fortier, offered.

Remember raising money during “Put It Together” or putting your parka on over a grass skirt to make your way to the beach-themed Winter Weekend? Fortier recalls that one of her favorite events “had to be Senior Week, when everyone else left, and the seniors had the entire campus to ourselves. We went on a Boston Booze Cruise and a picnic at the College Camp.”

The Alumni Office has reserved an entire floor of Pondside III just for the Class of ’86, and your Reunion committee has been contacting faculty members you’ll remember and asking them to attend the Oya Hill party. “We are hoping to expand this Reunion beyond just our class. We are really focusing on other things that were happening on campus when we were here,” Fortier said.

Other campus-wide events for all classes include a hike up Mt. Monadock at 9:30 on Friday morning, with the dinner and social that evening. Walk with your classmates at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Parade of Classes, trip the light fantastic at the dance that night, have some plain old fun at the Red & White BBQ. Then close your weekend of memories at the farewell brunch on Sunday where you can swap addresses, phone numbers, and Facebook accounts with old and new friends.

And make sure to save some time during the weekend to take in Larry Benaquist and Lance Levesque’s film, Enter to Learn, Go forth to Serve: the First Hundred Years of Keene State College, in the Putnam Theatre at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and catch the exhibit at the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery and alumni art show in the new Carroll House Gallery.
