June was a good month for KSC gifts and scholarships, beginning with a wonderful surprise estate gift of $326,000 from career educator and school principal Ida Goodell ’47, who worked in Portsmouth, NH, and Eliot and York, Maine. Though Ida was a regular annual donor, we had no idea she had set aside such a generous estate gift for the College.

The Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery received $3,000 towards their interior construction project, known as “the wall.” The Friends of the Thorne provided the funding to support this project.

The Holocaust and Genocide Studies Department received a surprise donation of $4,000 from Julian and Julie Landau. These funds will help students who wish to conduct research and related travel expenses. Much gratitude to Professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies Paul Vincent, who was essential in securing this gift for the department.

Jan Cohen gifted $10,000 to the Cohen Center in support of the upcoming museum show from Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem. A living memorial to the Holocaust, the exhibit will be opening in late July and displayed for approximately a month. There will be several planned receptions for this show.

“Thanks to all our campus partners in helping bring scholarships and many generous donors to the College,” said Director of Development Ken Goebel. “For the month of June, total gifts surpassed $700,000. These gifts will be noticed in every corner of campus as we continue working to make the KSC education exceptional and affordable.”
