The best way for the Parents Association to meet the goals and challenges of supporting our students is if we know what all those goals and challenges are. So, please, share your ideas and feedback on the information, programs, and events you’d like to see us support. We really want to know what you think.
What opportunities do you see for additional information about campus programs and services? How about meeting and sharing ideas? Do you prefer to meet on campus? Regionally? What topics especially interest you? Would you participate in a webinar? Would you share your hard-won wisdom about college students with others?
Please complete our brief online questionnaire. As an incentive, we will randomly choose one name from every 25 surveys completed and send your student a Dining Commons cookiegram or pizza party. And we’ll post the survey results on the KSC Parents Association webpage later in the spring. Thank you!
As a parent of a Keene sophomore, I would appreciate an effort by the school to improve transportation options for students coming from and returning to school. There is no express bus service to either Boston or Worcester. If students wish to travel by bus, it takes hours just to get to Boston.
I would suggest that the school investigate the possibility of contracting with a private bus company to transport students to and from Boston and Worcester on days surrounding busy travel weekends and holidays, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc. If students were notified that they had to register and pay for the bus trip one or two weeks prior to the departure date, the school could order the number of buses needed for that particular weekend. Students could then travel non-stop to those cities, saving parents hours of driving time. It really is no fun driving 2 or 3 hours to school and then turning around and driving back home.
If the school can arrange for athletes to be transported to games, why can’t it do the same for other students?
Thanks for your response,
Paul Gallogly
Paul, thank you for the feedback and suggestion! This is helpful information. I know from time to time student’s share rides to and from campus (in essence carpooling or ride-sharing) and that there are a few message boards around campus that list these from time to time. I would like to look into the group transport idea. Thanks very much!
Snow Days. My son who is a freshman called me on a snow day. The campus was closed down. He was really sick and there wasn’t anyone available in the health service office on campus. It took him a while, but thankfully he was able to find a student who had a car to drive him to the local hospital. He ended up having strep throat. Shouldn’t there still be someone available in situations such as this? Although no classes students still live there.

As a parent of a freshman daughter who has done a few triathlons I am disappointed that there is no triathlon club at Keene State…..Triathlon is a coed multi-sport, where the training & journey is the gift, not the competition…..
With reference to the group transport idea, I would like to suggest the possibility of including bus transportation to the Bridgeport ferry for students living on Long Island.
