The Keene State College Department of Music has given Mr. Rob Westerberg ’87 its Distinguished Alumni Award for 2009–10. Rob currently serves as the choral director at York High School in York, Maine, and is the director of the Portland Community Chorus. He earned a B.M. in Music Education at KSC and an M.M. in Choral Conducting from the U of Maine.
Rob will be back on campus on Thursday, November 4, 2010, and will receive the award at a Concert Band performance in the Redfern Arts Center Main Theatre at 7:30 p.m. If you know Rob, use the “comments” link to drop him a note of congratulations.
And to think I knew you when??????!?!?!??!!?!??!? Congratulations my friend, you are most deserving and I have nothing, but good memories of everything from KSC course to the years at BFUHS. I wonder if they take away the award if I sent them the picture of you kissing the moose at Bugaboos in Portsmouth or the vidoe of the Gong Show??? Hummmmmmm. I retired at Franklin Perce and got bored. Am now working as a part time admissisons counselor at the Community College site in Keene. Great fun. Darrow is well and as obsessively organized as ever!
Congrats my friend! A well deserved honor to a very talented “music man”! Can’t wait to see you this summer! Take care.

Congratulations, Rob! Its so wonderful to hear that some of our classmates have gone on to such wonderful things. I never doubted that the Maestro would.
GOOD JOB!
Great news Rob- I always knew you would accomplish great things and knew it when i heard you sing our national anthem so many years ago. I was privileged to know you at keene and remember our fun times with all our friends in Owls nest 3.
All the best to you
Its been too long since KSC-
congratulations from MR SULLIVAN
Rob,
Huge congratulations to you!!! You’ve worked so hard for everything that you’ve earned. You deserve this award and so much more. I watched you enjoy what you do and make everyone around you gather round and enjoy as well. You have such a knack for that! There is nothing that you won’t fight hard for, for your “kids”. And, you’ve earned the love and respect of thousands of students, parents and peers.
Enjoy this honor,
Jen
I’m not surprised that you are receiving this award. You were always such a dedicated student in your bygone years at KSC and it is a pleasure and privilege to have had the chance to sing with you. It’s nice to see you share your talents and dedication with other generations. Congratulations!! Keep the music playing!! Pete
My heart-felt congratulations to you, Berg! You truly deserve this award. Thank you so much for coming to speak to my Issues in Education class. You gave everyone a lot of insight into the teaching profession. I would love to attend some of your future choir rehearsals and performances. You are always welcome back to KSC as well.
Best regards,
Al
Robert–
You da’ man. Congratulations, good lad. Nice to see all of your accomplishment on one page—even if they did have to make most of it up! You know we love you, Robert and admire your excellent work with kids, young and old. Your passion and talent should be cloned (or clowned, as it may fit). I’m sure there are many more accolades to come —-I hope we can be there to celebrate with you each step along the way. (When you were at Carnegie Hall, did they misprint “Norton” or just neglect to include it? Probably waiting for the chance when you are singing for the Queen next, eh?)
You are family, Rob, and I’m very proud of you, my son!

Rob ~
So happy to see so many “O” Staffers offering you congratulations! What a group we were.
Maybe we could all meet up when you receive your award in November…..
Best to all ~
Ellen
Congratulations Rob. We had one class together (an introductory education class where you taught us all about pop music structure) and the O-Staff. It was obvious then that you had a passion for what you were doing and this award indicates that never left.
