Seen and Heard about KSC Alumni

We have recently seen and heard about alumni who have graduated and gone on to do some pretty neat things out in the great wide world. Over the next couple of months, we’d like to highlight some of what we have heard through the grapevine. And we’re sure that other talented alumni are out there doing amazing things that we haven’t heard about. So here’s your invitation to tell us all about them. Perhaps you have a story to tell too!

Have you heard?
Natalie Pope ’85, who has been a set designer for the TV show House, recently had a two-page spread in TV Guide magazine! Great job Natalie – looking forward to seeing you at Reunion!

  1. I recently went back to the gulf coast in Biloxi with a team of twenty nine volunteers from our church, The First Church of Hopkinton, UCC to work at Back Bay Mission restoring homes and working with the homeless of the area. Our team worked on three different homes doing things like painting , siding and constructing walls in three different homes that week. They also sanded and painted a tin roof on one house to restore that and some of us worked serving meals at the Loaves and Fishes Soup kitchen . It is the only full time place that feeds the homeless in the whole area.
The new Mica center helps the homeless as well by giving them a place to take showers and do laundry as well as have a place to take phone messages and search for employment on the computers made available to them.
We felt that we made the most effect of our three trips to that area so ravaged by Katrina. Now we are praying for the coastal fishing industry as well with the oil spill.
I still feel that I can contribute to the team effort even as I advance in age. The more active I am the younger I feel.

  2. Winnie, you are doing such great work! Clearly you heard the calling “go forth to serve”! Thank you for sharing and keep us in the loop as you continue your efforts! I am sure there are many more Alumns like you who are helping others, we are eager to hear what everyone is doing!
