And she was certainly a well-known character in the Monadnock Region.<\/p>\n<p>Please join the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coalitionforopendemocracy.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Coalition for Open Democracy<\/a>; Granny D&#8217;s organization, PACE (Promoting Active Civic Engagement); and KSC&#8217;s Mason Library on Thursday, January 24, from 2\u20134:30 p.m. at the Alumni Recital Hall in the Redfern to celebrate the 103rd anniversary of Granny D\u2019s birth and to remember her life and legacy.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5250\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5250\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5250\" alt=\"Barbara-Bates-Smith\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.keene.edu\/newsline\/files\/2013\/01\/Barbara-Bates-Smith.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"218\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5250\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Barbara-Bates-Smith<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.barbarabatessmith.com\/Barbara_Bates_Smith\/Welcome.html\" target=\"_blank\">Barbara Bates-Smith<\/a>, an award-winning off-Broadway and touring actor, will present her two-act show, <em>Go, Granny, Go<\/em>. <a href=\"http:\/\/folksoul.com\/bands\/tattoo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tattoo<\/a>, the band that marched with Granny D during her Senate run in 2004, will play, and there will be remembrances, tributes and appreciations as well.
