KSC’s Interim President Jay Kahn was delighted to receive a big rebate check from Bonnie Kurylo, PSNH’s Western\/Central Division manager.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Who says sustainability doesn’t pay? By continuing its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency when it built the new Technology, Design and Safety (TDS) Center<\/a>, KSC earned a $150,000 rebate check from Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH) as part of PSNH’s New Equipment & Construction Rebate Program. The rebate s a result of the heating, ventilation, lighting, and air conditioning systems that the College chose for the TDS Center. All of the TDS Center’s equipment\u00a0 meets the highest standards for energy efficiency in new construction.

\nThe TDS Center, which houses KSC’s Sustainable Product Design and Innovation (SPDI), Architecture, and Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences programs, is designed to qualify for the US Green Building Council’s LEED Platinum certification<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to thank Public Service of New Hampshire for encouraging energy saving projects by rewarding businesses for achieving efficiencies. These programs ultimately benefit the state\u2019s economy and environment,\u201d said Keene State College Interim President Jay Kahn<\/strong>. \u201cKeene State College prioritizes efficiency and sustainability in plans for new facilities and for retrofitting operating efficiencies into existing facilities. It is important for an educational institution to model energy-saving practices to students who enter the workplace with values to economize energy use and cost. The TDS Center is not only a model for effective teaching, it is an outstanding example of our commitment to sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n
