Students participate in regional geography meeting

Geography, Outdoor Rec, and Planning students were active in the New England-St. Lawrence Valley Regional Conference of the American Association of Geographers.  The conference, hosted at Keene State over Friday and Saturday, October 12th and 13th, saw more than 75 geographers from across New England and Quebec meet, present, and share ideas.  KSC GORP students participated in the annual Geography Bowl Competition, and helped staff the registration booth.  Everyone agreed it was a successful conference, and a great preparation for seniors looking forward to attending the national conference in Washington DC next April.

Will Schoefmann receives AAG regional award

Will Schoefmann, GIS coordinator for the City of Keene, was presented with the New England-St. Lawrence Valley AAG 2018 ‘Friend of Geography’ award at the NESTVAL annual meeting in Keene, October 13th.  Will is a Keene State alum and longtime collaborator with KSC Geography, Outdoor Recreation, and Planning.  For more than ten years, Will has supported the department by providing GIS technical support and data to faculty and students.  He has co-presented with students and faculty, helped support student research, and developed and organized projects that give our students real-world skills.   Thanks Will, for being a great friend to GORP!  We look forward to collaborating for many years to come.
